From the Vice Chancellor’s Desk
I can fathom the challenges before me in leading a University where I completed part of my education: research degrees in the main, after earning my bachelor?s and master?s degrees from the M S University of Baroda, Vadodara.
Vice Chancellors are the academic heads of Universities. Taking charge of my office from 1 September 2016, I have taken the challenges head on. These challenges have to do with leading the University into the successful completion of the third cycle of NAAC accreditation sometime in the beginning of 2017; overseeing the updating and modernization of the curricula to make them compatible with the UGC Model Curricula as mandated by MHRD, GoI, and thus also the UGC; overseeing the implementation of these curricula from the academic year 2017-18; preparing the system to conduct the semester examinations in October/November 2016 and then in March/April 2017; preparing the system for fresh admissions in 2017-18 with the University catchment area, which was earlier limited to 08 sq kms in and around Vallabh Vidyanagar, now extending to all the institutions in all the Talukas of the twin Districts of Anand and Kheda, i.e., the entire Charutar region; overseeing the setting up and working of Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences and Humanities (ICSSH); filling up the vacancies for which NOC has been received from the Government of Gujarat etc.
It will need massive effort to race against the time to complete all these tasks in hand at the earliest. As the Head of the University family, I have announced my intention of being a very proactive Vice Chancellor, who would be easily accessible as may be possible given the multiplicity of official functions I would need to perform. Fortunately, we have an excellent workforce: Academic, Administrative and Class III and IV, which has assured me of their whole hearted support and cooperation.
I assure all our stakeholders: student community, fellow teachers, officers and administrative staff of my full support and cooperation in doing all that needs to be done to enhance the prestige and reputation of this University named after the Iron Man of India, Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
